If you dream of returning home with a strong set of google marks, Alpe d’Huez is the resort for you. Thanks to its glorious south facing orientation and 300 days of sunshine a year, ADH is also known as ‘The Island of Sun’.

Alpe d’Huez has an exceptional ski area with race pistes and freestyle set ups to suit all standards. It’s got a wicked variety of steep terrain which makes it a popular spot for freeskiing but it still remains a great place for beginners to learn on the wider nursery slopes.

Run break down: 41 Green / 34 blue / 40 red / 16 black

For the dare devils among you, there are plenty of remote off piste spots with vertical descents and heli drops to deliver you safely back to the resort’s altiport – our personal favourites include the Couloir Fleur and Perrins Bowl.

If that’s still not enough, you can try out the famous ‘Champagne Run’. La Sarenne is the longest black run in the Alps and if you complete all 16km then you can sit and relax at the cafe at the bottom with a well deserved chocolat chaud.

Kicking off at mid-afternoon, La Folie Douce is definitely the best for panoramic views, it already holds legendary status with its DJ’s and live acts.

Another of our favourites is the FreeRide Cafe Bar next to the Ice-rink. Themed as a stock trading floor, all drinks are listed on the TVs and are constantly changing price, if you’re lucky you’ll get one at a market low!
